Second Chances and Forever Love - MaoMao the fluffy tuxedo's photography session

I first met MaoMao's mum at the Melbourne Cat Lovers Festival in 2024. We chatted about her beautiful boy and she lit up as she spoke about him.

Fast forward to November 2025 and I received a message from her. She was ready to book a photography session to celebrate her beloved MaoMao.

At fourteen and a half years old, she wanted to capture his personality, his presence and their bond while he was still happily ruling the household.

MaoMao’s story is one of resilience and love. He was once called Apollo when he lived with another family, but when they moved house eight years ago, they left him behind. Thankfully, he wasn’t alone for long. He had already been visiting Jiayun regularly and when the time came, it was only natural that he found his forever home with her.

It was clear he chose wisely.

MaoMao was a superstar. A little curious, he warmed up to me in no time and was completely confident in his role as King of the House.

His fluffy tuxedo coat photographed beautifully and he was an absolute star, posing and giving us those unmistakable “senior cat with dignity” expressions we all adore.

His mum was a tiny bit camera shy which is totally normal, but after a little encouragement she joined him in a few frames. When she received her edited images, she realised how meaningful those photographs truly are. These are the moments she now has forever in the most beautiful way.

Her 24 x 36-inch metal print of MaoMao now takes pride of place on her wall and it makes a stunning statement. She also chose several prints to display throughout her home which bring her immense joy every single day.

In her words, this experience was one of the best things she has ever done!

Hearing that … I am so very grateful I was able to provide her with not only these images, but how much she loves them - AND she now has them forever. This is why I love what I do!

Capturing the love between a pet and their human is truly an honour.

In years to come, long after the purrs have faded, MaoMao’s spirit will live on and be treasured in the beautiful printed artwork that will always remind her of their bond.
