The story behind the lens

"I didn't plan to become a photographer, but looking back, I think I was always heading there".

WHERE IT BEGAN

For years I enjoyed photographing casually and then in 2012, everything changed when I got my first 'real' camera'. It opened a door that has never closed.

The early years took me to places, photographing landscapes and learning long exposure using filters. From the coastline of Australia to the heart of the Red Centre and everywhere in between. Across the Tasman to New Zealand - mountains reflected in Alpine Lakes, forests, lupins on masse in Spring and the gorgeous Autumn hues. And then - Iceland. Dramatic black sand beaches, waterfalls like you've never seen, large diamond blocks of ice on beaches and the Northern Lights, dancing overhead in curtains of green and purple that no camera can ever do justice. These years showed me how to read light and what it really means to wait for the right moment.

Photographing people came next. Family and maternity sessions, the occasional event - including a wedding or two - each one teaching a new thing or two. The human adventure sessions were a whole lot of fun whilst utilising multiple locations and costume changes. Sessions that are a little out of the box but yield stunning results.

In 2021 things shifted again when I commenced photographing rescue cats for Ingrid’s Haven Cat Shelter. This sparked a deep passion for capturing animals and their unique personalities. Since then, I’ve photographed hundreds of pets, many being cats and raising over $6,000 for animal rescue through  creative and volunteer work.

Outside of photography, I’m a parent, nanna and nurse — roles that shape the patience, empathy and care I bring to every session.

I’m currently studying pet grief counselling and offer end-of-life photography for families wishing to honour their pet’s final chapter.

I’m an affiliate photographer with The Tilly Project, a worldwide organisation supporting families through grief, loss and bereavement.

When it comes to editing in the studio, I have two very important assistants by my side: Cleo and Milly, our rescue cats from Ingrid’s Haven.

As resident “feline supervisors,” they bring warmth, curiosity and just the right touch of mischief to the creative process.

Today, pet photography is my greatest joy and primary focus. I continue to offer 'human' sessions with the same heartfelt approach and love it when the pets join in too.

Absolutely fabulous!
Noeline came to my house to photograph my babies.
I ordered some prints which arrived this week. They are gorgeous!
Thank you Noeline. I will treasure these.

Volunteering for animal rescue

My daughter had been a volunteer at Ingrid's Haven Cat Shelter in Sunday Creek for three years and I wanted to assist in some way. I began by photographing Haven cats for adoption images to hopefully assist with adoptions.

I have since completed two photography coffee table books as fundraisers - both with proceeds going to Ingrid's Haven Cat Shelter.

The first book - Haven Tails -  consisted of cats only. Cats who were rescue cats from Ingrid's Haven and photographed in there forever homes. The second book - Happy Tails -  was bigger and full of various rescue pets along with their stories.

I have photographed hundred's of cats since that first day at Ingrid's Haven and I love each and every one.

I also assist with tasks and photograph animals for other rescues  -  Starting Over Dog Rescue, Heart & Soul, Victorian Bull Terrier Rescue. I have also photographed dogs for social projects for Young Diggers Dog Squad - an organisation who trains dogs for people with PTSD.
